About us

Since its establishment in 1927, St John Ambulance ACT has been dedicated its mission to serving the Canberra community with excellence in first-aid services, training delivery, community programs, and disaster response and recovery efforts.

As a not-for-profit organisation, we rely on the support of commercial ventures to sustain contribution to the community. Our diverse range of training programs and first aid products generate the revenue necessary to fund vital initiatives such as First Aid in Schools, CBR NightCrew, Emergency Response, and various Community Workshops and Projects.

At St John Ambulance ACT, we are privileged to have dedicated volunteers from diverse backgrounds, ages, and experiences. Their commitment, compassion, and hard work are the cornerstone of our organisation, as they selflessly contribute thousands of hours each year to serve the Canberra community and beyond.

Passionate about wellbeing

St John Ambulance ACT volunteers attend community events right across Canberra, providing first aid services to event patrons. Our volunteer program provides a range of training, activities and experiences to foster the potential of our volunteers to make a difference in the community.

Saving lives

Through training and resources, we teach people the first aid knowledge and skills they need to help save a loved one, friend, work colleague or passer-by, should accident or disaster strike. Our training and services enable the community to help themselves and each other, to build a more resilient community.

In times of disaster

As part of the Territory Emergency Management Plan, St John Ambulance ACT plays a vital support role in assisting the community when it counts most.  Our taskforce of qualified volunteers stand alongside emergency services in preparing for, responding to, and helping the Canberra community recover from disaster.

We are not-for-profit

St John ACT is a volunteer based organisation, run for the benefit of the Canberra community. As a registered charity, the proceeds from our commercial training and product sales fund the delivery of a suite of community first aid education programs to the community.
