CBR NightCrew is a harm minimisation program run collaboratively between St John Ambulance ACT, Industry and Government. The CBR NightCrew Program aims to provide a safer night out for everyone by providing a safe space where people can get help if needed.
About CBR NightCrew
Established in 2017 as a violence prevention strategy, the CBR NightCrew program has become a key part of harm minimisation in the city.
The program operates Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights during daylight saving time and Friday and Saturday nights during winter.
The program primarily focuses on young people's safety and well-being while attending the nightclub district; however, it is freely accessible for all city users during operating hours.
Where is it?
CBR NightCrew offers a safe space tent behind Platform 5 at the Civic bus interchange on Mort Street whilst patrol teams walk around the Civic and Braddon entertainment district.
The program operates during the following hours:
Thursdays - Daylight Saving months only: 10pm – 2:30am
Fridays and Saturdays: 10pm – 4am
What we offer
The tent is fully equipped with:
- Supplies and trained personnel for First-Aid support
- Bottles of water
- Information and assistance regarding safe transport options
- Mobile phone charging stations
Our roving teams are equipped with a range of first aid supplies to respond to any calls for assistance from the public, venues or emergency services.
